Violinist Benjamin Abel began studying the violin with his parents at age five. Benjamin attended Butler University from 2012-2016, studying violin with Larry Shapiro. In 2015, Benjamin won Butler’s Concerto Competition. In 2016, he performed Saint-Saëns’ Concerto No. 3 with the Butler Symphony Orchestra. Benjamin received his B.M. cum laude in violin performance from Butler in 2016. Benjamin is a passionate chamber musician, regularly appearing in concerts with the Cosmopolitan Chamber Players. He is also a member of the Abel Family Quartet. In 2016, Benjamin attended the prestigious Castleman Quartet Program. This summer, Benjamin will play chamber concerts with Vista Lirica, as well as at the Chamber Music Festival of the Finger Lakes, the Castleman Quartet Program, and the Britt Festival. This fall, Benjamin will pursue his M.M. at the University of Miami, studying with the inimitable Charles Castleman and serving as his teaching assistant. In his spare time, Benjamin enjoys reading, playing tennis, and spending time in nature.
